One would be hard-pressed to find another text with such concentrated wisdom than the Epistle of Jude. Coming in at less than five hundred words, it takes a few minutes to read through, but anyone who did not take the time to ponder this short epistle would be doing themselves a disservice. There is wisdom upon wisdom layered in this text, and it doesn’t hurt that the half-brother of Jesus of Nazareth wrote it. Given that Jude grew up in the same home as Jesus, we are given a glimpse into how those closest to Him understood the faith, what our responsibility toward it is, and what we must do to stand against the tide of evil and darkness that constantly threatens to destroy anything of virtue, principle, nobility, or righteousness.
While this is not a verse-by-verse commentary on the Epistle of Jude, it does hold to the flow of the writing and can be read as such. Jude did not hold back in his assessment of how dangerous those who would creep into the household of faith unnoticed were, and you will find that the author did not hold back in his condemnation of the lukewarm and halfhearted either.
This is not a book for the faint of heart, nor for those who believe they can call a truce with the enemy, thereby circumventing battle. This book gets to the heart of the matter, discussing the battle all believers must wage and the stakes for which they are fighting.
Neither retreat nor surrender is an option, and in simple yet profound words, Jude encourages us to press on, contending for the faith and standing for the truth.
This book is a collection of writings, meditations, and big ideas mined from the Epistle of Jude that will serve to grow, mature, encourage, and animate you in your spiritual walk.
