About Me
Adina S, together with her siblings, were forced to witness the most tragic of their life's events- their mother abandoned the family, leaving the father to take care of them alone. However, after having suffered a stroke and being admitted to the hospital for a prolonged period of time, he was under no circumstance able to provide for his family and take care of their well-being. The doctors were guarded in giving any chance of survival. He later on passed away.
A relative of the family contacted us and asked us to intervene and offer the children a chance to grow up in a safe and proper environment. While the older children were either married or working in different areas, the little ones were on the verge of abandoning school and becoming orphans with no expectation whatsoever of having a normal existence.
We visited the family's house and quickly determined that they needed a helping hand. Iuliana (born in 2004), Adina (born in 2006), and Alexandru (born in 2009) became a part of our large family and were housed in one of our orphanage home groups, and continued to live together.
School was a challenge for them as they had missed their classes for days on end during their family crisis, but with the dedicated help of our social workers and teachers, they were able to make considerable progress and Adina was able to recuperate a lot of the classes she hadn't attended.
At the end of 2024, Adina decided to rent her own place in Botosani and start an independent life.
The Romanian government initiated a program where qualifying young adults ages 18 to 26 could receive a generous initial sum of money followed by monthly financial support from the state if they left the social system and showed proof that they are continuing their education or are employed. Adina decided to take advantage of this and move on her own while finishing her last year of school. Her desire is to finish high school and then possibly move abroad to work.
Iuliana, her older sister, is currently working in Belgium. She recently visited her younger siblings in Romania as they continue to have a close relationship. Iuliana even helped Adina find a place to rent in town.
Our staff assisted Adina with all necessary paperwork and helped her transition to her new place. Throughout her years at Hand of Help, she was able to acquire a lot of skills which will prove extremely useful as she starts living on her own. Since she is still in Botosani, she is able to stop by to see Alexandru and her former social workers at any time. Our staff will continue to assist her and offer advice whenever she needs any help.
Please join us in praying that the Holy Spirit would draw our children unto salvation and transform them into obedient servants of our God, ready to follow His will for their lives and labor for His Kingdom!
Thank you for being a blessing to our children! May our Father abundantly reward all your labor of love!
